Sometimes - okay A LOT of the time - it takes a brick upside my head to get something through to me!

I decided to take a little detour from posting an update on our progress towards Bolivia today.  I have been having a wonderful time going through the  Bible study, "Paul - 90 days on His Journey of Faith," by Beth Moore.   The lesson that I did this morning was so great and applicable to me.

If you have been around me very much, you know how I agonize over big decisions, because in the back of my mind is always the question, "What if...?"  Well, what I am actually searching for and wanting to know is what God's will is and how to go about accomplishing that.  Numerous times I have exclaimed to friends that I was totally willing to do His will - if only I knew what He wanted.  I even went as far as to say, "If God would just give me directions in a neon sign or writing in the sky, I would do just what He has asked!"  Well, today, I have come to realize that that kind of thinking is just plain foolishness and immaturity.  It takes work to know God's will. It starts with getting to know Him thoroughly and just like in any relationship that takes a lot of work!

Renew my mind by replacing the contents with His Word = discerning His will.

Romans 8:29 - The Message
29-30 "God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him. After God made that decision of what his children should be like, he followed it up by calling people by name. After he called them by name, he set them on a solid basis with himself. And then, after getting them established, he stayed with them to the end, gloriously completing what he had begun."
